The Official Launch Celebration
SupportHER was founded by Keanna Jones in 2020 to uplift women in Atlanta by connecting them with other women, resources, and career opportunities. The Atlanta nonprofit recently hosted its exclusive event The Essence of Elegance: A Cocktail Affair to announce the launch of its mentorship program.
SupportHER’s six-month mentorship program will connect young Atlanta women ages 17–18 with mentors, pairing each mentee based on her unique needs and goals. Young women who want to be in the program have to be willing to dedicate time to meet with their mentors, and not be afraid to network.
The program will have a dedicated coordinator to ensure personalized guidance and impactful relationships.
“We want it to be a meaningful program,” said Jones.
For safety reasons, SupportHER is currently only allowing women mentors and they must have a minimum of three to five years of experience in their professional field.
SupportHER was started because Jones felt overlooked, underestimated, and unsupported in certain spaces. The mentorship program was also created based on Jones’s experiences. It wasn’t until her freshman year of college that she understood the importance of mentors. She didn’t go searching for a mentor yet one found her. Jones’ mentor immediately became a help in her life personally and professionally. Since then, Jones has found herself being a mentor to others even when she sometimes felt unqualified.
“I just pour back into people…and sometimes I don’t even consider I’m a mentor,” she said. “…[mentoring] was something I’ve always naturally done.”
The nonprofit is currently building out the mentorship program’s curriculum. Young women looking to be a part of the program can apply here.
Following Passion
Before SupportHER, Jones was working in early childhood but was laid off due to COVID. It was during this time that she was on a prayer call with a friend who confirmed that it was time to fulfill the vision she had been sitting on. After getting off the call, she created the name SupportHER and went to work bringing her vision to fruition.
Over the last five years, Jones has built the foundation up, specifically on the legal side from gaining 501 c(3) status to finding the right board members.
SupportHER started as a helping arm for other women where the board members filled in for volunteer positions around the city when needed. Now, in 2025, the nonprofit is a beacon for women to grow together.
“It’s more so giving away information. I’m not a gatekeeper,” said Jones. “This is how I do it and I can teach you.”
SupportHER is looking to raise funds to ensure its mentorship program continues throughout the years.
