Reaching Monetization
Jasmine and Hakim Collins met on the campus grounds of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). Their energetic, joyous, and comedic personalities immediately connected as if they’d known each other their whole lives. The two met and began their relationship in 2014. In 2017, Hakim invited their close friends and family onto campus and surprised Jasmine with a proposal, then he immediately married her right after; she almost fainted.
They eventually moved to Georgia during a leap year on February 29, 2020, and started a new life away from their hometown. Now in 2026, the couple has been together for 12 years, and they are even more in love than their days on campus.
Not only are Jasmine and Hakim lovers, but they are also best friends, which shows up in their work as entertainers on social media. Collectively, the two have over a million followers across all social media platforms. Jasmine started her social media journey in 2009, and Hakim began his in 2012. Jasmine has a background in dance, while Hakim has a background in classical theater, but together they create content that complements one another.
“Neither one of us seen something like this. We didn’t really plan to end up being with somebody that does the same thing that we do,” said Jasmine. “It’s honestly a beautiful thing because we understand each other better being in the same field.”
Their content has enabled them to be able to take care of themselves and their three children from social media. Their content includes skits, family moments, and now PR packages and reviews.
Jasmine said the biggest difference from their content over the years is the option to monetize. That wasn’t always an option back then, but now the couple has made a living career out of social media
“Nine times out of ten, anything we do is right on the spot,” said Hakim. “It’s our everyday life.”
Making money off what you love is a win in life, but it can have its downsides. Jasmine admits that the business side of social media can sometimes take away the fun, but she still enjoys it, especially since she gets to do it with her husband.
As their kids get older, they’re joining their parents in creating content, building a family legacy together.
“I honestly love it, I feel like it’s divine purpose. We have to do it together in order to reach the people that we was designed to reach,” said Jasmine.
More than Social Media
Social media was never the be-all, end-all for Jasmine nor Hakim. They have been utilizing social media to aim for bigger goals like producing original content through their production company, 2MuchStudios. The company recently released the short film, It Could of Been Us on YouTube.
Hakim says he’s written a variety of scripts over the last few years and is working on getting them out into the world. Jasmine owns her own clothing line, Lax, which has over 19,000 Instagram followers. Hakim also does motivational speaking, and they both are constantly sharing their gym and health journey with their social media followers.
No matter the platform, the two aim to make content that people can connect with.
“The goal is to make people feel again. People are really desensitized from social media,” said Hakim.
