In Honor of Harmonie Grace
Harmonie Grace was born on June 23, 2018, at just 23 weeks and 1 day old, weighing less than 430 grams. She was considered a “micro premature” baby and was immediately put into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where her mother Adriauna Davis realized that many families lacked emotional and financial support through this new journey in their lives.
Davis had the support of Harmonie Grace’s father, their families, and her church family, but not everyone was so lucky. She also had the will to advocate for herself, which she now does for others. In honor of her daughter, Davis wrote her first book, Perfect Harmonie: My Journey as a Preemie Mom, but she didn’t stop there.
As a believer in God, Davis knew that she could do more. In 2019, Davis founded The Harmonie Grace Foundation to support families with premature and medically fragile babies in the NICU. The Foundation provides direct financial assistance, bereavement support, care packages, and educational resources to moms, dads, and caregivers who often feel unseen and overwhelmed.
“It is a dark place, it’s a scary place…know that you can always keep going,” said Davis.
Davis knows firsthand the confusion and fear that comes with having a baby in the NICU. During her journey, she met a woman who had a baby in the NICU who gave her advice on what to expect, what to ask, and how to cope. Today, Davis provides that same support to others through her organization.
The Harmonie Grace Foundation is based in Texas but has served dozens of families across Milwaukee, Alabama, Florida, and beyond.
“I just love what I do,” said Davis.
Care Packages, Travel Vouchers, and Essential Resources
The Harmonie Grace Foundation partners with hospitals like the Women’s Hospital of Texas and Texas Children’s Hospital to reach more families.
The Foundation recently received a $4,000 check from LGI Homes for the continuation of its care packages and travel vouchers.
The care packages include essential items like a toothbrush, deodorant, socks, hygiene products, and an encouragement card.
Travel vouchers are provided for families who drive 45 minutes or more to see their baby in the NICU. Davis said people don’t always understand the expenses that occur for families, especially for those who have other children to care for.
The Harmonie Grace Foundation also pays for hotel rooms, provides meal vouchers, and pays for cremation when needed. The organization used to pay for burial services, but it became too high of a cost.
The Foundation aims to create a world where every NICU family feels valued, empowered, and embraced throughout their journey from the NICU to home.
“Be bold in who you are. Be confident in who you are. Don’t be afraid, speak up, share your truth,” said Davis. “…advocate for yourself.”
5K Run and Midnight in Paris Gala
When Davis felt overwhelmed, she found relief in walking near the hospital. On one of those walks in the park, she met a woman in tears who was a NICU mom with twins. They walked, talked, and were later joined by the woman’s husband, forming a moment of shared support and connection.
Those three miles of walking inspired the annual Harmonie Grace Foundation’s Miles for Miracles: 5K for NICU Families. The event is a fundraiser, but it’s also an outlet for families to bond.
This year’s 5K race takes place at 7 a.m. CST on June 21, 2025, at MacGregor Park in Houston. Starting at 6 p.m. that same day, the Foundation is hosting its annual Midnight in Paris Black Tie Gala. This is a time for parents to dress up and feel like themselves again.
Davis used her lowest moments to be a light for others.
“I have a voice, and I know that my voice matters. That’s where my strength comes from,” said Davis.
