Baldwin wrote the film based on her own personal experiences as a single woman. She knows that there’s a possibility that she may marry into a blended family, so she uses that as inspiration.

“I wrote this movie to actually heal myself from any kind of fears so I don’t block myself from God’s blessings,” said Baldwin.

The Almost Christmas Extravaganza

Baldwin hosted the Almost Christmas Extravaganza on November 2, 2024, in Atlanta to celebrate her debut as a feature film writer and director. The event featured a red carpet, appetizers and drinks, along with a panel.

DeKlab County Director of Film Shelbia Jackson said this is the county’s first time supporting an independent artist, but this won’t be the last.

“To be able to offer her opportunities to use vendors that aren’t typically used…and to be able to host an event like this one in DeKalb County, we’re super excited about this,” said Jackson. “We can’t wait to see what the future brings with more independent artists like this, and we’re so proud of Tamala Baldwin.”

DeKalb County was one of the filming locations for Blended Christmas.

Meet Some of the Cast

The Almost Christmas Extragavanza didn’t screen Blended Christmas but it did bring out a few cast members. Cheston, Batson, and Elston each took a few moments on the red carpet to talk about their characters.

Cheston, who plays Marshall, describes what makes him and his character similar.

“I think Marshall is a straight-to-the-point type of a guy and so is Lamar,” said Cheston.

Kid actors Batson and Elston were excited to be on the carpet both expressing their joy for working on the film.

“It was fun because there was like decorations everywhere, in every single room, big presents, and like a mini Santa Clause,” said Batson.

Soul Kisses Productions Relocates to Atlanta

The Almost Christmas Extravaganza also celebrated Bladwin’s production company Soul Kisses Producton‘s relocation to Atlanta from New York. According to a press release, the relocation signifies a new chapter in Baldwin’s creative journey, which involves embracing the South’s artistic community.

“Soul Kisses Productions is my baby. I [created] it to showcase stories that are about our happily ever after because we all deserve our beautiful happy ending,” said Baldwin.
