Christmas Event for the Kids
The holidays are a time of giving and One Hope 27 is one of the many organizations in Milwaukee staying true to that. The nonprofit supports kids and families involved in foster care by connecting them with churches and the community.
One Hope 27 is continuing its impact by hosting its second annual OneHopeful Christmas event. Through this event, families will be able to pick out gifts for their kids and have them wrapped all for free, while their kids are participating in fun activities. The Milwaukee Bucks and Mariah Riddlesprigger are teaming together once again with One Hope 27 to help over 300 families, which is double the number of families from 2021.
To support the mission of the event, Milwaukee Black-owned businesses Full Circle Television (FCTV) and Daq Shack teamed together to host a toy drive to donate the toys to OneHopeful Christmas.
“This is amazing! Thank you for partnering with us and helping bring hope and joy to kids in our community,” One Hope 27 said in a comment online.

Collecting Gifts
Since December 1, 2022, community members have been dropping off unwrapped gifts for the toy drive at Daq Shack located at 4191 N Green Bay Ave., Milwaukee.
FCTV Owner Kayla Lewis-Allen said this was a perfect opportunity for her and her colleagues to have fun together while giving back.
“If we have an abundance of something whether that be money or knowledge we should share it with those around us,” said Lewis-Allen.
Giving Back Since Childhood
Lewis-Allen remembers every Thanksgiving she and her family would go to their church to serve food to the community, so hosting a toy drive is something that feels right.
“It’s important to give back especially to your own community because it’s like planting seeds of hope that will soon bloom, then flourish and then replenish [and] beautify our neighborhoods our city,” she said.
