CKC Returns to Atlanta
Curls, Kinks & Culture (CKC) made its annual return this year in Atlanta for the CKC Block Party Festival 2022. CKC has been around for five years to create space for upcoming entrepreneurs, artists, and creatives to network and have fun. The block party was filled with Black and Brown women and men wearing natural hair and protective styles while rocking their best fits.
CKC Festival goers got to enjoy live performances from artists Jacquees, Domani, Kali, Ken the Man, and more. There was also a hairstyle competition where local hairstylists received first, second, and third place for their work.
Meet the Vendors
Serial entrepreneur Taliah Waajid founded CKC and she’s an embodiment of using one’s talents and passions to help others. Through CKC, individuals, specifically Black women, and girls, are being seen whether they wear natural curls, protective styles, or whatever in between.

Waajid has been in the beauty industry since a teenager, 14 to be exact. Along with CKC, she owns The World Natural Hair Health & Beauty Show, Taliah Waajid Hair Care, and Uncle Jimmy Men’s Grooming brands. CKC is just one of Waajid’s ways to help others succeed in business, which is why she makes sure to have vendors at each event.
According to an Atlanta Small Business Network (ASBN) interview, Waajid’s World Natural Hair show, which is different from CKC, started with less than 100 booth vendors and had an attendance of 150 people. Since then, they’re up to 350 booths and 30,000 people over the two-day weekend.
“I think that no matter what you do if you just have a great love for it, you really care about how the customer receives it, how it affects the customer, you want to be very pleased and happy about what you put out,” Waajid said in the ASBN interview.
