Supporting Black-Owned Fragrances

Since 2022, the annual Black-Owned Fragrance Week (BOFW) has brought awareness to the many Black-owned fragrances available on the market. BOFW runs from February 1 to February 8, 2025, where Black-owned fragrances can opt in, for free, to offer deals to customers participating in the week and a chance to advertise their products to a broader audience.

Along with potential new clients, participating businesses receive brand spotlight interviews highlighting the business owner, covering the brand’s origin, product details, and more.

Fragrance influencer Glenn Davis started the week to spotlight Black-owned businesses that are often overlooked.

“Historically, we [the Black community] are some of the biggest consumers of fragrances…however, we are not intentional about supporting our own people,” said Davis. “We can have a huge economic impact on these brands.”

The 2025 BOFW has over 40 participating brands, including Brown Sugar Babe, Matteo Parfums, Maison Yusif, Moodeaux, Aromatic Perfume Oils, Traces of Akoya, Chémin, Savoir Faire, and more. Davis said the BOFW Team is currently working on a process for brands that want to enter the week after the deadline has passed.

The Future of BOFW

After four years of supporting Black-owned fragrances, a key lesson learned is advertising a week earlier to ensure consumer awareness and preparation.

With the growing demand for BOFW, Davis has partnered with influencers to further promote the week and bring more visibility to the brands.

“You have to be prepared for growth,” said Davis.

Davis mentioned a potential in-person scent fair for BOFW in June 2026 in Dallas and hopes to celebrate the week year-round on occasions like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas.

“We’d love to do this [week] longer and more of these throughout the year,” he said.
