The Life of A Rock Star
TINA–The Tina Turner Musical opened on Broadway on November 7, 2019. The musical then shut down for 18 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic until October 2021. In 2024, the musical made its way to Milwaukee at the Marcus Performing Arts Center (MPAC).
The musical depicted Tina Turner’s life and how she overcame domestic abuse and ageism, amongst other things.

Born as Anna-Mae Bullock in Tennessee, Tina Turner started her singing career in the church. As a teenager, she caught the eye of Ike Turner, who is known as an early influencer of Rock and Roll. The musical walks us through the journey Tina Turner took from being in Ike’s band to becoming a mother to leaving the relationship after years of abuse and then finding herself again.
The costumes, the music, the acting, it all brought the story of Tina Turner to life on stage. Some would say it was like seeing a live concert.
The second act focused on Tina’s solo career and how she eventually rose to the top with her hit single “What’s Love Got to Do With It.”
Tina passed away at the age of 83 years old in 2023.
